The system challenge

Understanding evidence in the youth employment system is limited, with significant gaps in available data. To create meaningful change, we need a clear picture of how the system works.

Our aim

We want to build a robust evidence base and address gaps in data and research to create a stronger foundation for improving the youth employment system.

What are we doing?

By developing and maintaining groundbreaking youth employment tools, we are creating interactive resources that make previously unknown data and research more accessible and usable.

This programme brings together key resources and research to improve understanding of youth employment. It covers:
  • Data on young people’s experiences and outcomes in employment, education and training.
  • Evidence on interventions that support marginalised young people into good jobs.
  • Insights on policies and programmes that could drive large-scale change.

It also includes strategic research on specific groups – such as young people with mental health challenges or care experience – and broader foundational studies, like international comparisons and the role of the benefits system in youth employment.
