Youth Futures' first apprentice joins the team

Nov 13, 2020

Youth Futures Foundation is delighted that Deuvaunn Darroux has been appointed as our first apprentice.

Deuvaunn believes in the importance of young people being involved in decisions that affect them and this is driven by that well-known quote by former US Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”

It is this passion that led him to initially join Youth Futures Foundation as a consultant helping to develop its youth voice strategy. Now as our Strategy Officer Apprentice embarking upon a Level 4 Junior Management Consultant Apprenticeship, he is responsible for leading our youth voice strategy work alongside the Head of Strategy, and also tying together multiple strands across the organisation to help the Strategy team generate solutions to bring about systemic change.

Deuvaunn started his career in the Montserrat Legislative Assembly, where he helped facilitate programs to support and empower young people entering secondary school. Since moving to the UK in 2018, he has volunteered with Youth Employment UK since 2018, and was appointed the Policy Officer to the Ambassador Board in January 2019 – in these roles he has championed the voices of young people in conversations with policy makers and employers. He has also served on Lambeth Youth Council and the London Youth Assembly.
