The Government has today announced a £25 million investment to expand the Youth Hub scheme which will now roll out to over 200 locations across the country.

Youth Futures Foundation welcomes the announcement, having called for the expansion in a report published with Demos last year.

The report highlighted the promising start that Youth Hubs had made in delivering place-based solutions to help young people into work – bringing together services from employment support and careers advice, to skills training and mental health services, in a single ‘one stop shop’.

With one in eight young people currently not in education, employment or training, the need for effective support is evident. In our report with Demos, we found that young people valued the “understanding” and “welcoming” environment of Youth Hubs, where trusted relationships can be built, and holistic support delivered at the right time and in the right place.

“Youth Hubs have made a promising start at providing place-based solutions to help young people into work – meeting young people where they are with targeted support, welcoming spaces, and trusted relationships.

Expanding them and linking with Youth Guarantee trailblazer areas is an important part of the system response needed to help reduce the large number of young people not in education, employment or training, and build a more prosperous future."
