Providing answers to frequently asked questions to support applications for our themed funding round
The guidance below refers to our 2025 Themed funding round: Pre-employment vocational training opportunity, open to delivery organisations and intermediary organisations.
We will update this guide while the funding round is open so we recommend revisiting this page before contacting us with a question about your application.
For further information, view our Application pack and step-by-step guide on responding to the application questions.
No, it does not. We are interested in pre-employment vocational training with OR without basic skills training as a component of support offered to young people.
Depending on the cost of interventions and the number of young people required per project for a viable Randomised Control Trial (RCT) we expect to fund 2 to 3 projects from this funding round.
The maximum amount of funding per funded project will be determined by a range of factors.
It is important to remember that we will be assessing value for money, so your unit cost per young person should reflect the actual cost of delivering the intervention.
Ultimately the total delivery grant awarded will be dictated by the number of young people we determine your intervention needs to be delivered to.
As a guide, grants for delivery organisations are unlikely to exceed £1m to £1.2m per project.
Yes, although there are different versions of RCT evaluation methods that will be considered at stage 1 and 2 of the assessment process.
No, there is not a minimum number of young people that your programme must have been delivered to within the last 24 months for you to be eligible for this funding. However, we are likely to prioritise applications that can demonstrate track record of delivery to young people over the last 24 months at a level (c.200 young people) close to or in excess of the scale we believe is required for a RCT.
