We want to understand the current and future impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) on young people’s labour market outcomes in England (or the UK).

The new research will address existing gaps in the evidence by exploring:

  • how AI is reshaping entry-level work, skills demand, progression and distributional impacts
  • how these changes influence young people becoming or remaining not in education, employment or training (NEET), particularly those most marginalised and furthest from the labour market

The project aims to generate robust, relevant insights to inform how policymakers, employers and funders can support young people to adapt to AI-driven changes and mitigate risks of worsening inequalities.
