CloseWe are pleased to see the Government’s plan to create a National Youth Strategy and the ambition to build a blueprint across Government and beyond for young people’s outcomes. Including young people’s voices and lived experiences is central to everything we do at Youth Futures through our Future Voices Group, Young Board members and much more, so we are very pleased that the Government intends to put young people at the heart of designing the National Youth Strategy.
The Government also announced that it has made the difficult decision to close down the National Citizen Service programme in the Spring of next year, which is sad news for colleagues at NCS and for the many partners who are involved in delivering the programme.
We were delighted to hear about the increased investment in young people, including confirmation from Lisa Nandy that £100m of the next tranche of Dormant Assets funding covering 2024-28 will be focused on young people’s outcomes. We look forward to continuing to work with Government as it further shapes its proposals to better support young people and pursue its opportunity mission.
