About
Cornwall Council’s Youth Engagement Project provides wrap-around support for young people 16-24 who are not in employment, education or training, working in partnership with five local organisations who have specialisms in supporting this cohort.
Interventions are bespoke to each individual and delivered via one-to-one face-to-face appointments or small/large group settings.
It focuses on:
- Supporting every young person to develop confidence, motivation and independence and preparation for adulthood through employability skills, motivational and confidence building, and life skills opportunities, such as money management courses.
- Identifying realistic opportunities and a pathway to reengagement with mainstream opportunities,
- Sector specific pre-employment vocation training and Qualifications. Focussed on job sectors identified within Cornwall’s Skills Strategy.
The project has been running since January 2024, supporting in excess of 1600 young people to date. It aims to help re-engage 30% of all cohorts with employment, education and training opportunities.
