Launching new resources for building evaluation capacity in the youth employment sector
Apr 04, 25
As the What Works centre for Youth Employment, our role is to help generate and collate robust evidence on what works to support young people find and keep good-quality work. We share those insights to support evidence-informed decision making that drives meaningful change.
One way we build this collective understanding is by funding delivery organisations and collaboratively evaluating if, how and why their support services help young people.
Many delivery organisations in the youth employment sector – particularly smaller, community-based ones – need additional expertise to develop effective systems, processes and practices to monitor what’s working and what isn’t.
To help meet this need we partnered with Ipsos, New Philanthropy Capital and the National Centre for Research.
The project focused on helping the participating organisations prepare for robust, independent evaluations and improve their internal capabilities for monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
At the end of the project, Youth Futures, Ipsos, New Philanthropy Capital and the National Centre for Research engaged in a collaborative workshop to share key learnings, reflect on the barriers and enablers of this type of work, and generate recommendations.
