Case Study

Spencer, 22, was referred into VIY by The Amber Foundation, a charity that supports homeless and unemployed young people in turning their lives around. Over one week, Spencer helped undertake improvements at CentrE17, a community theatre in Walthamstow, learning and applying new carpentry and painting and decorating skills in the process. “It was a great experience and gave me skills that I can take with me when I leave The Amber Foundation and apply for a job. Volunteering with VIY has also made me feel more motivated to succeed and has given me strong opinions towards my future and taught me that hard work pays off.”
