Case Study

The Amber Foundation

by | Feb 20, 2021

Holly, 20, came to Amber after becoming homeless having walked away from an abusive relationship and a chaotic lifestyle. Holly stayed at Amber for 7 months and has been able to secure a place to live with help from their rent deposit scheme, a place at college and a job. She has also identified a longer-term goal: to work in social care helping young people who are struggling like she has. Holly said: “If it wasn’t for Amber, I’d still be homeless, drinking and using drugs with no hope for the future. I could even be dead. Moving on I feel a huge sense of achievement. My time at Amber helped me value myself and to recognise my strengths. Troubled young people need stability, support and attention and Amber offers that 24/7 – it’s what I needed to find the best version of myself.”
